George Town Hospital – Accident & Emergency Services

The Accident and Emergency Unit provides 24-hour coverage for persons who need urgent medical care. It is staffed with specially trained Physicians and Registered Nurses at all times. Other specialists such as Surgeons, Gynaecologist, Paediatricians and Radiologists are available “on call” after normal working hours if needed. The trauma room is directly accessible from the outside by ambulance crews, and can accommodate multiple patients. The intensive cardiac care section allows for the provision of immediate attention to persons presenting with chest-pains. A quiet room for persons suffering emotional/mental trauma is adjacent to the unit.
