Pedro St. James National Historical Site

This 3-storey great house manor set on 7 acres of bluff overlooking the sea is considered the birthplace of democracy in the Cayman Islands.
It is where the Proclamation of Emancipation abolishing slavery was read in 1835. Take a tour, enjoy the 3-D multi-sensory theatre, and listen to the guides who describe the hardships of early settlers, the danger of marauders, and the lives of the slaves who built and maintained the property.
